THE VOWS

Marriage vows have always and will always be a cultural norm in every society but how many couples live by their vows?
Religions must have made those vows available for newly wedded couples so as to present their vows before the Lord and the witnesses but then, are what was written in those vows the true feeling of the couples?
While religions and  courts are trying to make the process easy for the couple, they equally make the institute of marriage so easy that couple don’t place value on it or take the time to put in their best to nourish their relationship for the long run.
Think about it.
If my religion sets these general vows for me not knowing my true feeling towards my spouse, I will live by it not knowing how I feel or why I am with a person other than for convenience.
But supposing the task of couples developing their own marriage vows were placed on them individually, it will enable them to search their inner being to determine why they chose a particular person over a million people out there.
Furthermore, every anniversary should serve as a renewal of vows. Couples should take it upon themselves to renew their vows every anniversary and every vows should be unique.
We learn and discover new things everyday about our spouse that makes him/her exceptional. Those things should serve as a basis for anniversary vows. By renewing these vows every anniversary, couple will appreciate each other more, improve each other and strengthen their love etc.

Another reason why renewal of vows is vital is when couple knows they must renew the vow, they must strive to find words that describe the importance or how their feeling has advanced towards their spouse and if it comes to a point where couples couldn’t describe how they feel for each other or why they choose each other then they know that their relationship might be heading toward destruction and must find a way to spice it up.
